Seeking a passionate individual with strong knowledge of music and a love for working with kids. An ideal candidate has teaching experience working with young 1 to 12 years, is energetic and flexible, and has a background in one or all practices of dance, music, and theater. Classroom management is a must.
Building Kidz’s vision is to empower children to become strong and confident individuals through the use of our performing arts program. Kids perform one recital and one spring musical annually. Expanding our quality team will help to make that happen!
The Dance Instructor is responsible for administering creative and fun ways to teach dance to children while utilizing the Building Kidz dance curriculum. He or she works collaboratively with other members of the PA department to plan and develop one recital and one musical production a year.
RESPONSIBILITIES
● Must possess a strong knowledge of dance and a love for working with kids.
● Teach dance to groups of children 1-12 years of age. Classes range from 20-to 30 minutes
● Manage a classroom for young children
● Curriculum development and lesson planning
● Able to effectively collaborate with other performing arts staff to plan two imaginative show productions a year, including but not limited to music, dance, theater, set design, and costume design.
● Flexibility, teamwork, and initiative are required.
● Ability to work well harmoniously in a multicultural team.
● Ability to promote a feeling of security and trust in children by being warm, supportive, and comforting.
● Attendance at regular staff meetings; ability to take and incorporate feedback.
● Perform additional duties as assigned by the Performing Arts Director.
QUALIFICATIONS
● Strong knowledge of a variety of dance forms, terminology, and practices i.e. ballet, jazz, hip-hop, tap, etc.
● ECE Credentials strongly preferred
● Minimum 2-3 years’ formal training in one or all of the following practices: music, dance, and theater.
● Minimum 2 years of teaching experience preferred but not required.
● Experience in developing and teaching music/theater numbers utilizing different types of instruments and techniques preferred.
PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
Physical exam, TB test, reference check, background/fingerprint clearance; valid license. Willing to obtain CPR, 1st Aid, Blood Borne Pathogens, Food Handlers card & proof of MMR
* Willing to obtain 30 Basic STARS hours within 3 months of hire
* Able to pass Criminal Background check

- Teaching music to groups of young kids from 1 to age 13. Classes range from 20-30 minutes.

- Curriculum development and lesson planning.
- Able to effectively collaborate with other performing arts staff to plan two imaginative show productions a year, including but not limited to music, dance, theater, set design, and costume design.
- Ability to work well harmoniously in a multi-cultural team.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Performing Arts Director and Site Director.
- Applicants will undergo a thorough background check, TB testing, and fingerprinting.
Requirements:
- 18 years or older
- Ability to read music and arrange sheet music for rehearsals.
- Knowledge of instruments such as drums, tambourines, choral bells, xylophone, maracas, and keyboard.
- ECE Credentials are strongly preferred.
- Minimum 2-3 years formal training in one or all of the following practices: music, dance, and theater.
- Minimum 2 years of teaching experience preferred but not required.
- Experience developing and teaching music/theater numbers utilizing different types of instruments and techniques preferred.GED or High School diploma
